PVMT1 – Foundations and Initial Application of Polyvagal Manual Therapy

Full Description:

The PVMT1 module establishes the fundamental principles of Polyvagal Manual Therapy, effectively integrating Polyvagal Theory with advanced manual techniques.

This first level aims to help participants understand how the autonomic nervous system (ANS) deeply influences both physical and emotional health, and how proper regulation of the ANS can significantly transform therapeutic practice.

Throughout this module, participants will not only learn to identify patients’ physiological states, but also analyze their direct impact on behavior and associated pathologies. The program combines a strong theoretical foundation on the ANS with hands-on manual therapy techniques specifically applied to key structures such as:
✅ The vagus nerve,
✅ The trigeminal nerve,
✅ The hypoglossal nerve,
✅ The glossopharyngeal nerve, and others.

The therapeutic approach includes a detailed exploration of the topographic anatomy of the face and neck, providing therapists with direct access to critical areas involved in autonomic regulation.

Additionally, the course presents myofascial and neural techniques, emphasizing their ability to influence interoceptionand exteroception, two key processes in physiological self-regulation.

Finally, the module highlights the importance of integrating theory with practice, ensuring that participants can immediately apply the concepts learned in their clinical settings.

Main Topics Covered:

History and principles of Polyvagal Theory.
Anatomy, embryology, and functions of the autonomic nervous system.
